I Have a Pet Penguin

Alexa Alleman

I have a pet penguin.
It is abnormal. Its feathers are curly.
My pet penguin is extremely fat.
He tripped, falling, rolling down the hill like a ball.
I laugh and point my finger,
Then splat! Right into a tree.

I froze when he hit the tree.
Awww... Poor chubby penguin.
He broke his ring finger.
I can tell because it's a little curly.
Good thing he is fat and rolled like a ball,
Because hitting the tree made him no longer fat.

I cannot believe he is not fat,
Thanks to that tree.
Now we can play ball,
And he can be a regular penguin.
His feathers are still curly,
And he still has a broken finger.

I don't know what to do with his finger
Because it is swelling and turning fat.
His feathers though they are not curly!
Maybe it was a magical tree!?
It possibly was, because it changed penguin
Into a skinny penguin instead of a chubby ball.

I'm glad he doesn't look like a ball.
I take a look at his finger
And that penguin,
His finger no longer fat.
When he hit that tree,
He made it all curly.

Ha, never seen a tree that was curly.
There is a ball,
Stuck up in that tree.
I point my finger.
It is not a ball but a cat, a cat that is fat.
Maybe it will be best friends with my penguin.

He tells the story of the tree that is curly,
Because of the penguin that rolled like a ball
That he broke his finger,
And the tree made him no longer fat.
